Another one of those must have tools for the "eTeacher"

Source: itunes.apple.com
As a teacher who relies heavily on ebooks as reading resources and reference material for students, I download a lot of ebooks from the internet. One problem I have come across is how do I split the PDF to extract only the pages I want to give the students and leave out the rest.

Rather than copying the entire chapter and pasting to word which I used to do before I decided to do some googling to find out if there is an app that can split the PDF and give me just what I want. (This feature is built into adobe pdf but you will have to register to use it which I couldn't.)

Integrate Camtasia Studio with Moodle

It has been a while since I last posted any tutorial here. Been very busy with work and family that I wasn't able to write something. However, I did get to participate in a very enlightening course over the course of three weeks on teaching online.

It was through this course that I started to assist the facilitator teach some of my colleagues on how to use Camtasia. Camtasia is a great screen capture tool. I shall not go into the details of the software as there is tonnes of info on their website (a simple Google search would do) but I would like to share a tutorial I wrote on how to integrate Camtasia with Moodle. Moodle is an open source LMS with a huge support its community of users. You can find more about Moodle here

Calls To Preserve Motuan Art of Tattooing

I am very glad to hear that calls have been made to preserve the Motuan art of tattooing. I stumbled upon this footage produced by EMTV on EMTV online .

As a Motuan myself, I have great respect for for the tangible and intangible cultural heritage that identify us as Motuans.

Onetest is now Revelian

About 2 years back in my previous role as a Trainer with Daltron Training I used to organize and supervise online tests for the PNG LNG Company as part of their recruitment program.

The organization that ran this basic PC skills, typing and secretarial testing skills as well as cognitive skills and many others was ONETEST.

I found this online testing platform very simple, intuitive and user-friendly. For the past two years since I left Daltron Training I have accessed the site only once to re-register under a new organization name and have left it since.

Madang Teachers College & Hetura Fellowship Group Combine Fellowship Sermon

On the 23rd of August our regional fellowship group "Hetura" (which basically means friendship in the Motuan language of Central Province, PNG) from the local Madang town United Church Congregation was invited to have a combine Sunday service with the Madang Teachers College UC students.

On behalf of the group, I led the pulpit with this message which I would like to share with you all. I spent a good deal of time preparing this message however put it into bullet-point form to make the sermon short and sharp. I do not like to share a message holding a 6 page sermon in-front of people. I'd rather share from my heart what the spirit of God has inspired in me than read a full page of sermon written by someone else.

This is the sermon as I shared in bullet-point form. I wish to expand this later on to write a proper article sometime.

Repost: MOOC on M4D Report

MOOC or Massive Open Online Course is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education which was first introduced in 2008 and emerged as a popular mode of learning in 2012 according to Wikipedia.

Early access to MOOCs was largely based on the use of desktop or laptop computers. The design and structure of the first MOOC sites were also developed to be compatible with desktop/laptop systems. Since the widespread use of mobile phones, the development has now been geared towards mobile compatibility.

Side wok...

Over the two week Semester break, I barely had good rest. Wantoks and tutoks were bringing laptops and phones for me to fix. Whether it was a hardware or software problem, they had one thing in mind - that I was the "Fix-it-Felix" of Madang town.

Well, I tried my best and did whatever I could to solve their hardware and software problems and one way or another luck was on my side. I could say I do have skills but when my skills felt they couldn't handle the challenge it was just sheer luck and taking a big risk.

Cisco VOIP Phone Setup in Packet Tracer

HERE IS AN UPDATED VIDEO SERIES THAT COVERS THIS TUTORIAL

The following tutorial is a result of endless research on how to setup a LAN with two or three IP Phones that can call each other. I compiled this tutorial together for my CCNA 1 students. The actual setup and documentation itself was used for the 2015 IS Open Day room 223 display, modelling a small business office setup. The last part involved a challenge activity for them to create trunk links to ensure calls can be made over the WAN

I used the Packet Tracer instructor version however any version will still support the following documentation.

The following diagram shows that there are four (4) Cisco IP Phones connected; two phones to the Madang network and two phones to the Lae network.

The current configurations for this setup are shown below;
