The project was initiated by Prof. Craig Volker who is a linguistic by profession. Since its conception, the Motuan lecturers of DWU namely Dr. Sibona Kopi, Kari Totona and myself have taken ownership of the project to collaborate with other academics to bring it to fruition in the coming years.
Below is an screen shot of the Motu Wiktionary on WikiMedia. The Motu language has been recorded and given a code ISO 639-3: under WikiMedia Projects. It is an online dictionary under the WikiMedia banner (referred to as Wiktionary, that is how we call it Motu Wiktionary). It is still in its incubator stages so we need the support of all Motuans to carry this project forward and complete the dictionary.

This wiktionary site will serve as a useful tool to preserve and promote the language and for the sake of our younger generation.
Language Software Workshop
Plans are underway and progressing well to bring a linguistic expert from SIL Ukarumpa, Goroka to run a one-day workshop on the use of a language software.
We are currently arranging the logistics at our end here. Will sure post some more info and pics soon about the progress of the planned workshop.
