Safe Exam Browser Tutorial By Picky Airi

Safe Exam Browser is a web browser-environment to carry out online exams safely. The software changes any computer into a secure workstation. It regulates the access to any utilities like system functions, other websites and applications and prevents unauthorized resources being

used during an exam.

Some of your Moodle Course Quizzes and Exams may require the use of Safe Exam Browser.

You will need to download Safe Exam before taking these Quizzes or Exams. Please follow the

instructions below.  

For Windows.

1.      In a browser address bar type: http://safeexambrowser.org/download_en.html

2.      Click on the Safe Exam Browser 2.1.6 for Windows.

3.      It will redirect you to the source forge download page. Wait till it downloads the application.

 

Do not worry about the information towards the middle and bottom of the page.

4.      A file download box will appear and you should click on Save File. A file will download.

5.      Click on the file to prepare it to install.

6.       

7.      The Install Wizard will appear and simply follow the instructions to install.

8.      Click the radio button next to accept the terms in the license agreement.

9.      Click Install.

10.  Click Finish.

An Icon will appear on the desktop that looks like this:  If it does not appear, click on your Windows 10 logo  (or Windows Key on keyboard) and then under recently added you will see the Safe Exam browser and its SEB Config Tool.

If you click on the Icon it will take you to notes and not work for your exam.

You must complete the following steps to tie it to Moodle.

1.      Click on the SEB Config Tool. 

2.      Click on the General Tab

3.      Type http://learninghub.dwu.ac.pg in the box that says “Start URL”

4.      Click File then click on Save Settings.

5.      Then Click on Safe Exam Browser again to open it.

6.      Safe Exam browser will open with Moodle automatically opening inside the windows.

Access Quiz or Exam in Moodle

If you have an exam or quiz that requires the use of Safe Exam browser:

1.Click on the gray SEB Icon located on your desktop.

2.Login using your Moodle Username and Password.

3.Find your course.

4.Click on your quiz or exam link and begin exam.

5.Once you finish with the quiz or exam please hit the SEB Quit button located on the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
